It’s a chilly start to the week here in Ōtepoti Dunedin and the MetService are forecasting snow lowering to near sea level overnight.

Head home if you need to

Heavy snow has already closed State Highway 1 between Dunedin and Waitati

Your safety is our top priority so if you’re on campus and need to head home early, please talk to your lecturer.

Potential delayed start tomorrow

If the weather is disruptive tomorrow morning, we may delay opening the Dunedin Campus until 10.00am. This decision is based around whether buses are running, if schools have a delayed start and if there are extensive road closures in place (road information is available on 0800 444 449 or the NZTA website).

We will communicate any decision about a delayed start by 7.15am.

We will:

  • send you an email via your student email

  • add this to Kāpehu (your student intranet)

  • post this on Moodle

  • pop this on our social media channels

  • announce this on The Hits 89.4FM, and The Breeze 98.2 FM (or 95.4 FM in Mosgiel).

If there is disruption due to the weather, your lecturer will be in touch about your classes (to confirm their availability and if there have been any class schedule changes).

Got an early class?

We know some of you have early 8am classes – your lecturer may touch base with you before OP Communications does so please follow your lecturer's advice.

If you will be unable to get to campus due to the weather, please let your lecturer know.

Whatever happens with the weather, please travel safe and stay warm! Your safety is our top priority.

Kia pai tō haerenga. Kia mahana ai koutou.
