On Campus
Eden Café – Right in The Hub. Get your coffee, smoothie or a bite to eat here. Entirely nut free, and . Opens at 8am on weekdays. You can download the Again Again app to borrow reuseable containers and cups.
AKO Espresso – Student training café, open part of the year. Watch out for opening times on Kāpehu.
Manaaki Restaurant – This is our student training restaurant, and it hosts special events. Open at select times and occasions, so keep an eye out on Kāpehu.
Off Campus
Fluid Espresso – Coffee shop right across from campus on Forth Street. Get your early morning coffee fix from 6:30am on weekdays.
Albany Street
Formosa Delight – Get your dumpling fix. You can grab veggie, vegan, and gluten free food. Good prices, indoor and outdoor seating areas.
The University of Otago has several options on their campus, you can find their locations and hours at this link.
OUSA Free Breakfast – Don't start the day hungry! Returning from 24 February, you can get freshly cooked porridge, hot drinks and toast weekdays between 8am and 9:45am in the eVision Lounge of the OUSA Clubs and Socs building. Remember to bring your Otago Polytechnic student card for this students-only feed.
OUSA $4 Lunch – Good for your belly and your budget. Weekdays from 12pm to 2pm, with vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options. Learn more here.
Tūhura Otago Museum café – Hot and cold drinks, cabinet food, cooked food, plus you’re supporting the museum. Win win win.
Eureka – Popular after-class location for a bevvie, and is also open for lunch and serves barista drinks.
The Flying Squid – Classic fish n chips. A staple of Dunedin student life.
Ombrello’s – Restaurant and bar. Celiac friendly and even has a dedicated GF fryer so you can enjoy the chips. Big courtyard for outdoor sitting, and has live music and other events.
Poppa’s Pizza – Providing hungry students with pizza since 1975.
Rob Roy’s – This dairy on the corner of Albany and George Street has been serving ice cream for 30 years. It’s a rite of passage for Dunedin students.
George Street
Buster Greens – A contemporary café with gluten free and vegan options. Also founded by an OP grad, Jayden Lawrence!
Patti’s and Cream – celiac friendly options (they’ve recently introduced a dedicated fryer), veggie options, vegan options, excellent small batch ice cream.

Anzac Ave
Emerson’s – Brewery and eatery. Did you know that Richard Emerson is a distinguished alumni of Otago Polytechnic? He graduated with the New Zealand Certificate in Science before founding Emerson’s Brewery.
The Octagon
The Octagon is Dunedin's hub. Everything from a gelato stand to fine dining, bars, theatres... no matter what you're after, you'll probably find it here.
Looking for groceries?
From specialty shops to big grocery chains, you've got choices – and many have online delivery options. This isn't a complete list, but it will get you started!
Bin Inn is a wholefood market where you can BYO containers to reduce packaging waste.
CJ Asian Supermarket can be found on George Street.
Veggie Boys is on Albany Street for fresh and affordable fruits and veggies. They have a second location in South Dunedin, and do delivery.
Fresh Choice Roslyn is in Roslyn and has a low sensory shopping time on Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
New World Gardens is by the Botanic Gardens in the North East Valley.
New World Centre City is on Great King Street.
Pak'n'Save is in South Dunedin.
Taste Nature is an organic local supermarket and cafe on High Street.
Unimart is an Asian supermarket right across the street from New World Centre City
Woolworths has three locations, one right by the Bus Hub in the city centre, one in South Dunedin and one in Mornington. They have low sensory shopping times on Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
