The main theme at the Employability Centre for November was networking.

Multiple networking workshops were held on campus to help students prepare for real, external, industry networking events and opportunities. Students were invited to attend an event dually hosted by Migrants in Tech and Women in Tech.

This was a fantastic opportunity for students to practice networking in a safe environment with their friends, talking to fellow migrants. The insights provided by the event speakers were also inspirational and spoke directly to the unique challenges migrants face.

Kenneth Gustilo shared her journey from selling garments at a farmers' market to becoming a tech founder. Dhannun Ahmed went over his journey of struggling at university to landing his dream job at Xero. Lastly, we had Jeanelle Ooi, a talent acquisition specialist, who shared many valuable tips to help migrants improve their job applications.

All attending students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and took a bold step to grow their professional network in Aotearoa.
